A recurring theme for me these last few
months, as I continue to move forward on this journey of self-discovery, is the
letting go of everything; my beliefs, my relationships, my self-image and all
the things that keep us small and limited. But every time I’m faced with yet
another release and deeper surrender into self I can feel that grip of fear of
the unknown. Facing that fear has often been likened to standing at the edge of
a cliff and taking that leap of faith into the unknown, but so often most of us
are paralysed by the fear and never move beyond it. It is just a choice to
either push through the fear and take that leap of faith, or to give in to the
fear, move away from the edge of the cliff, and carry on doing what you’ve
always been doing.
Fear comes from the voices in the mind and
stops you from moving forward, it stops you from expanding and keeps you small,
fear keeps you stuck in the known. But the fear is just an illusion, it’s a
fear of the unknown that just melts away when we confront it, and it’s the
strength of your conviction that will allow you not to be swayed by the excuses
of your mind or the opinion of others and to just follow what’s in your heart,
because growth and expansion comes from listening to the heart and soul.
To move through the fear takes self-belief,
motivation, passion and a desire to do it in a new way. It requires an inner
strength and drive to move forward; “when the going gets tough, the tough get
going!” It’s when you follow what’s in your heart regardless of the fear that
comes up because you know that if you don’t you’ll be selling yourself short
and you’ll regret it in the long run. It’s that inner drive to push yourself
beyond your comfort zone, and it’s your courage that allows you to just trust
and follow your heart and to keep choosing and making decisions in line with
your core passion.
With all the changes that are happening in
the world today there is a lot of fear coming up everywhere and it’s easy to be
affected by it. So the next time you are faced with that leap of faith into the
unknown and in the grip of fear, what are you going to do? Are you going to let
your fears hold you to ransom or are you the master of your life and the one in
charge? Will you choose to listen to the fear voices in your head that tell you
to keep small and ‘safe’ or take a deep breath and follow the whispers of your
heart and soul that encourage you to be all that you are?
